Biography

Gabrielle Deacon is an illustrator and studio artist from Appalachia. She received her BFA in Studio Art with a focus in Painting from Ohio Wesleyan University in 2024. Currently, Gabrielle is a professor at Shawnee State University, where she mentors and inspires the next generation of artists while continuing to push her own creative boundaries.

 

Her recent work has focused on expanding her illustration and graphic design portfolio in order to open more doors for professional growth and artistic exploration. Gabrielle's passion for storytelling through visuals has led her to showcase her work at various exhibitions, including the Women of Appalachia exhibition at the Dairy Barn Arts Center, where she earned the "Best In Show" award.

 

As Gabrielle continues to refine her craft and expand her artistic practice, she aims to create more opportunities to exhibit her work and develop a lasting professional career as an illustrator and artist. With each new project, Gabrielle is committed to blending her love of traditional techniques with the dynamic possibilities of digital media, embracing the ever-evolving nature of the art world.
